We’re here to help

Considering surrendering your Wheaten for adoption by a new forever family?

Speaking with one of our Rescue Specialists is the first step!

Reach us by calling 707-WHEATEN (707-943-2836) or email us at rescue@nationalwheatenrescueinc.org.

After hours calls, or calls not answered because our Rescue Specialist is temporarily unavailable, are promptly returned. Our email address is also regularly monitored and, either way, you will be personally contacted by one of our rescue experts.

National Wheaten Rescue collaborates with Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Clubs (including the ones shown below) and other reputable rescue organizations nationwide, whenever necessary, to locate the right new home for a rescued Wheaten. Relying on our long-standing relationships and our network of Wheaten-loving volunteers across the country prevents owners from having to make multiple calls to different rescue organizations and prevents them from having to consider online posts or buying sites whose missions do not include assuring the best re-homing possible for their Wheaten, and can sometimes place surrendered dogs in dangerous or life-threatening situations.

Interested in adopting a rescued Wheaten?

Learn more about how National Wheaten Rescue’s adoption process works on our ADOPT page, which includes links to our adoption application. Because the number of applicants exceeds the number of dogs rescued, and because the location of the rescued dog is always a factor, finding the right dog for you may take time. We always consider applicant preferences for the type of rescued dog desired, we keep applications current for a full year, and we will contact you if we believe the right dog for you has become available.

If you live in California, you may also want to reach out to the regional Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Clubs in that state who may have rescued Wheatens available for adoption. Completing their adoption applications may increase your chances of receiving a rescued purebred Wheaten, and contact information for those Clubs is shown below.
